Steve the Cat - the newest addition to our family

So Matt & I cat sat for a co-worker of his a couple of weeks ago. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that would lead to me wanting a cat. Growing up, we had many cats. I never had a good impression of them...they all seemed to be pompous little smelly bitches. Anyway, I figured cat sitting might be a good opportunity to see if we could handle having a cat. It ended up being a wonderful experience and left me immediately wanting a new kitty.

Matt's dad is a vet in Kenosha, WI so we had a pretty good chance that a new cat would come along in no time. Sure enough, a stray cat made it's way to his office. Matt's dad checked him out, determined that he was likely 2-3 years old, and had been wandering around outside for some time. Matt's inital plan was to surprise me with a new cat (which is the sweetest thing in the world), but this particular cat had shown a little bit of a crabby side. He'd sometimes hiss at people while inside his cage. Hello, I'd likely do a lot more than hiss at people if I were in a cage!

So, to make sure he was the right cat for us, Matt let me in on his surprise and asked if I wanted to head up to Kenosha to meet him. So, last night Matt & I drove up to Wisconsin to check the little bugger out. He hissed loudly as the cage was opened, but after we let him out, he seemed to make himself perfectly comfortable. He even started purring! (which I wasnt expecting)...

Anyway, we decided to give him a shot. We packed him up, including the necessary supplies from the office & headed back to Chicago. We named him Steve. Here are some pictures of Steve:
